Functional Medicine is a whole-body approach to healthcare. It considers every aspect of the person and truly looks for the root cause of the issue, rather than just suppressing symptoms. It uses an in-depth approach to get you back to wellness.

Most of the time, the questions we ask give us enough information to start a treatment plan. However, in more complex cases, certain testing can be done to figure out the root issue. This can be genetic, hormone, saliva, stool, urine or blood testing. Each of these kits gets sent to your house, where you simply post it back to the specific laboratory. These range from £150 to £300 if needed.
Rather than treating the disease or label you are given, we look to improve your health. Often the disease goes away as a by-product. We also have an entirely natural approach, with no pharmaceutical drugs being used. A combination of dietary, lifestyle and supplementation changes, along with habit change, is the key to success.
Before the first appointment, you will be asked to fill in an online intake form to answer all the questions we need about your health and wellness. This allows us to analyse your health history and start to understand what your issues are. During the first appointment, we can then discuss your forms, answer further questions, and explain the root causes for your complaints. After the session, we put your personalised protocol together and deliver this to you to start your treatment.
Check out our reviews! Lifestyle and dietary changes are astounding. They are the biggest factors, aside from our genes, that determine the expression of our health and wellness. Stress and the environment also matter, and that is why we use our 4 Pillar Approach to get you back to 100%.
All of the recommendations we use have scientific research behind them. There is now lots of evidence showing how different diets and supplements affect the expression of our health. We dedicate time to ongoing research to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.
We always take your budget into consideration. If costs are an issue, we can minimise supplementation and testing, and focus on lifestyle and nutrition changes. This will still create big results.
Neuro-Linguistic Programming
NLP
NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) is a set of communication and behavioural-change techniques that explore the link between how we think, the language we use, and the patterns we run automatically. At Torus Health, we use it to help you recognise and update the subconscious responses — beliefs, reactions, and emotional associations — that can keep your nervous system stuck in a protective, reactive state.
Chronic symptoms are often held in place by a nervous system that has learned to stay on high alert. NLP techniques work with the way your mind has encoded past experiences and current stressors, helping to reduce the emotional charge attached to them. As that protective signalling settles, the body is often more able to recover. We use it as one pillar within a wider plan — not as a standalone fix.
No. It isn't about forcing positive thoughts or putting you into a trance against your will. You stay fully aware and in control throughout. The work is practical and collaborative — we use specific language and attention-based techniques to help you shift unhelpful patterns, rather than simply telling you to "think positive".
Sessions are conversational and led by you. We identify a specific pattern, belief, or response you'd like to change, then use structured techniques — such as reframing, anchoring, or timeline work — to update how your system holds it. You'll usually leave with simple practices to reinforce the change between sessions.
No. Many NLP techniques are designed to work without you having to re-tell or re-experience distressing events in detail. The aim is to reduce the charge a memory or pattern carries, not to push you back into it. We always work at a pace that feels safe for you.
This varies from person to person and depends on what we're working on. Some patterns shift quickly; others are part of a longer process woven through your wider plan. We'll discuss realistic expectations with you rather than promising a fixed number.
No. NLP is a complementary approach we use alongside — not instead of — appropriate medical and mental-health care. If you're under the care of a GP, psychologist, or psychiatrist, we encourage you to continue that, and we're happy to work alongside it.
Recursive Human Mechanics
RHM
RHM is a framework for understanding the body as a self-regulating system. Rather than treating a symptom in isolation, it looks at how your nervous system, tissues, biochemistry, and past experiences interact and reinforce one another — the recurring loops that can keep a problem "locked in". We then work to identify and release the constraints holding those loops in place.
Traditional manual therapy often focuses on the structure at the site of pain. RHM steps back to ask why the body is producing that output in the first place — what it's protecting against, and which systems are involved. It draws on neurology, the autonomic nervous system, and the body's prediction and protection mechanisms, not just the mechanics of a single joint or muscle. At Torus Health, hands-on structural and rehabilitation work sits within a separate pillar — RHM complements it rather than replacing it.
We map the systems involved in your particular presentation, then use precise assessment and "calibration" techniques to help your nervous system update the patterns it's running. The work is gentle and informed by how your body responds in real time, rather than following a fixed, one-size-fits-all protocol.
Calibration is the process of helping your nervous system recognise that an old protective pattern is no longer needed, so it can release it. Think of it as updating outdated software the body is still running — letting it return to a more accurate, settled baseline.
Yes. Much of the RHM work can be delivered effectively online, which is how we're able to support clients beyond the clinic. Where hands-on structural work is also needed, that's arranged in person through our clinical pillar.
It's most often used for complex, persistent problems that haven't fully resolved with conventional approaches — chronic pain, lingering symptoms after injury or illness, and the physical effects of long-term stress or trauma. Because it's systems-based, it's particularly suited to cases where several things seem tangled together.
RHM is an emerging clinical framework, not a licensed medical treatment, and we don't present it as a cure. We're transparent about what's well-established and what's still developing, and we use it as one part of an integrated plan alongside functional medicine, rehabilitation, and appropriate medical care.
